Giles Thomas is a composer, sound designer and multi-instrumentalist from the UK. A graduate of Paul McCartney’s LIPA, his work spans Theatre, TV and Film as well as many other mediums from online gaming platforms, to VR worlds and experiences. A personal highlight includes an exhibition on CERN and the Large Hadron Collider at the Science Museum.
Giles’ extensive body of theatre work has received international critical acclaim. He has worked in and for a vast range of theatres including: The Royal National Theatre, Royal Court, Young Vic, The Royal Exchange, The West End and Off Broadway. It also includes numerous UK tours and international venues such as The Market Theatre, (Johannesburg), The Fugard Theatre (Cape Town), Dubai Opera House (Dubai), Teatru Manoel (Malta), The Great China Theatre (Shanghai) and Recklinghausen (Germany) to name a few.
As a young musician Giles studied Singing and the French Horn. He actively avoided learning the piano at school but this has come full circle with piano often being a staple in his stylistic scores. From a young age he investigated how music could exist outside of cliché or norm. This journey of sonic exploration has lead to studies in Guitar, Percussion and Cello as well as an extensive voyage into synthesis electronic music and design/construction of new instruments.
